Designer Samuel Yang was born in Guangdong, China, and began studying in the UK in 2006. He studied at Central Saint Martins in 2009 and earned a postgraduate degree in April 2015. He furthered his experience with a stint on the Alexander Wang design team during his studies, and in 2015 he officially established the SAMUEL Guì YANG studio in London. Through this house he explores, expresses and proposes ideas through the various media of garments, objects, and printed matter.
Yang is guided by an interest in the human form, which developed from a background in the fine arts. His interest in fashion specifically is in how it allows contact or proximity to the living body that isn’t as obvious in other artistic media.
