My tresses need all the help they can get in Shanghai. The city’s chemical-heavy water wreaks total havoc on my hair. The result: it’s brittle, lackluster and stubbornly refuses to grow any further than my shoulders. In the sweltering summer, I pretty much tie my hair up everyday, and my standard elastics are beginning to do even more damage to my weak strands.
So I went hunting on Taobao for a hair tie my friend introduced me to in Los Angeles at the boho-chic boutique Planet Blue, which sells pots of these soft, elastic hair ties for 40 bucks. They don’t hurt your hair, and also just look so pretty, even worn as a bracelet when you do decide to let your hair down. I have principles though. I’m not dropping 40 bucks on elastic. Following my hunch I could find something similar on Taobao, I did some digging and found these 8-packs of Sephora ties for RMB20. Just ordered the green ones… find me on Instagram to track the delivery.
