The Concrete Flux community has been kept lively with reading groups, film nights and other events. Last December we held a ‘hybidity’ reading group and dinner. We read from Homi Bhabha’s The Location of Culture, a key text in hybridity studies, and dined on the fantastic mixed cultures and mixed concepts cooking of Richard Gong, Orianna Cacchione and Emi Uemura.
The event acted as a warm up to Issue 2 of Concrete Flux, whose theme will be hybridity – the unceasing mixing and melding of cultures, ideas and ways of living – in the city. Deadline for submissions is 23 Feb 2014.
