“City as Museum” is a project and app by Moujiti Studio that attempts to re-think and expand on the concept of a “museum”. Connecting storytelling with cultural sites through location-based technology, the aim is to pull people back to the physical sites within the city, exploring these spaces as if they themselves were museums. In the process, the project challenges how geo-physical context and historical content may collide to form an increasingly hybridised collective memory of the city: “vanished temples, city gates, ruins of famous literati’s residencies, all layered with oral history…the city is not only the backdrop of events and stories, it has always been an active part of our reality”.
