Zhang Yuhao: Spring-Summer 2016
Perhaps best-known for designing exclusively in black and white, Zhang Yuhao mainly stuck to the same script for spring — with a few colorful exceptions. This collection played with fetish themes and featured laced-up, semi-detached long sleeves; safety pins adorning terry-cloth outerwear; cropped metallic leather jackets and oversize denim jeans suspended to midthigh.
In this heavily textural collection, Zhang utilized materials as diverse as silk, viscose, chiffon, lace and denim. Pops of color, as in contrasting ribbons threaded through coats, proved effective. Tailoring was the focus, with layers, cutouts and sheer panels providing interest.
